On April 6, 2017, ten GA-72Cd’s were shipped to Palau through the Schonstedt Humanitarian Demining Initiative.
Palau is an island nation located in the Pacific Ocean that continues to be impacted by WWII-era unexploded ordnance (UXO). The island became infiltrated with buried UXO as a result of fighting between the United States and Japanese forces in 1944. The U.S has invested over $1.3 million in the cleanup. This particular shipment from Schonstedt Instrument Company was vetted through The Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the US State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM/WRA), shipped to Norwegian People’s Aid – Palau, and funded through donations by individuals (all donations are matched one-to-one by Schonstedt).
